The Purpose of this programme is to make the students familiar with the culture, history, religion, language and literature of Great Britain and to equip students with the necessary skills for the teaching of the English language and to use the language for a variety of purposes. |

Outcomes of the Programme : |

Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to : |
OP-1: | have a broad knowledge of language use | |
OP-2: | explore the history of the English language with a focus on the foreign influences on it. | |
OP-3: | develop important skills to study ancient and modern foreign languages, bibliographic procedures, and textual and editorial methods. | |
OP-4: | improve the ability to do solid and innovative scholarly and critical work in a specialized field or fields of language like phonetics, morphology, semantics, discourse. | |
OP-5: | develop an insight into the relationship between the language and other disciplines like sociology and psychology as sociolinguistics and psycholinguistics. | |
OP-6: | write, read, speak, listen and teach effectively and impressively | |
OP-7: | make articulate presentations at conferences, seminars, and symposia. | |
OP-8: | be knowledgeable about everything that they should know about how to write test. | |
OP-9: | be knowledgeable about the theories and practices in second/foreign language acquisition, and the problens in the field and the solutions to them. | |
OP-10: | have insights into the theories on the nature of language, how we produce and understand sentences, whether we are born with an innate knowledge of language, how children learn languages. | |
OP-11: | have insights into language change, the relationship between language and culture, language and sex, and language planning. | |
OP-12: | engage in serious interdisciplinary projects | |
OP-13: | work closely with other collegues in research and publications projects. | |
OP-14: | carry out a research project; carry out a detailed study; carry out a detailed literature review; and present and defend a research project. | |
