FOUNDATION & HISTORY  
Ship Machinery Management Program was opened with the transfer of the school to KTU and students were accepted for the 2017-2018 academic year. This program was established in order to train the machinery officers needed in the maritime sector. Students are admitted to the program within the scope of YÖK program with numerical score. Course contents are prepared in accordance with the A-III / 1 Mechanical Officer (3000 KW) curriculum and YÖK criteria specified in the Seafarers Training and Examination Directive.
QUALIFICATION AWARDED  
3-month internship (school internship) is compulsory in the workshop facilities approved by the school in order to graduate from the Ship Machinery Business Administration program. Graduates of the program "Ship Machinery Business Program, Technician" associate degree diploma is given. Our graduating students applied to the port authorities in response to their education; they receive personal life-saving techniques at sea, basic first aid, medical care, fire prevention and fire fighting, advanced fire fighting, competence to use life-saving vehicles, personnel safety and social responsibility certificates.

OBJECTIVE of THE PROGRAMME  
RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING  
The "Directive on Recognition of Prior Learning", Senate Decision No. 340 issued on July 28, 2023, has been accepted and entered into force regarding the students registered in all programs of Karadeniz Technical University to determine the principles to be followed for the recognition, crediting, and adaptation of the achievements acquired by the students at non-university institutions.

In this Directive,

- recognition of knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired with special interest through an exemption exam to be substituted as program courses,
- recognition of workplace and internship experiences through portfolio evaluation to be substituted as program courses,
- and the crediting of certificates received from accredited institutions regarding students' special interests are covered.

Announcements of courses included in the scope of recognition of prior learning, applications, and evaluation will be made on the dates specified in the academic calendar. Recognition of prior learning will offer numerous benefits to our students and employers. For our students, increasing professional development and mobility in the labour market, preventing repetition of education and waste of time, providing early graduation, reducing the cost of learning, encouraging learning, and increasing the student's motivation and self-confidence can be counted among the benefits of recognition of prior learning. From the employers' perspectives, it will contribute to satisfying skill or competence deficiencies in the workplace, reducing the time employees spend outside the workplace for training purposes, and thus using resources more efficiently.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS  
In order to obtain an associate degree in the Marine Business Administration Program (in order to gain the title of Marine Business Technician);
a) Having passed all courses in the curriculum with a minimum DC degree,
b) to have at least 2.0 weighted average over 4.0,
c) 3 months internship (school internship) in workshop facilities approved by the school in order to graduate from Ship Machinery Business Administration program.
EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT and GRADING REGULATIONS  
For each course, students are subjected to midterm, midterm (projects, seminars, quizzes, homework, or a second midterm) and final exam. The contribution of midterm exam is 30%, the contribution of midterm exam is 20% and final exam is 50%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points and there is an obligation to get at least 45 points in the final exam. At the end of each semester, students can take the make-up exams of at most two courses of that semester. Students who get one of (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) grades are considered successful.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS  
Students who successfully complete all of the courses available in the program (equivalent to 120 ECTS) and obtain at least 2.0 weighted grade point average over 4.00 and who complete the 3-month internship (school internship) approved by the school are given an associate degree diploma in the field of SHIP MACHINERY MANAGEMENT TECHNICIAN.

ACCESS to FURTHER STUDIES  
Candidates who have successfully completed the associate degree can get education in related undergraduate programs if they meet the quota requirements of the related universities by getting enough points from DGS exam.

DEPARTMENTAL FACILITIES : 
The program is divided into 4 classrooms, each with a capacity of 40 students. Classrooms are suitable for the use of projection machines and there are also projection devices in laboratories. Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronic, Automatic Control, Automation, Process control, Machine, as well as laboratories with 50 computers in each of the 4 computer labs CAD / CAM and simulation applications are ready to use for this program students.
