FOUNDATION & HISTORY  
Child Health and Disease Nursing Program is instituted upon the authorization of the Council of Higher Education at 2014 in Karadeniz Technical University (KTU), Health Sciences Institute. Two associate professor give lessons for this program.

ADMISSION & REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS  
- To graduate from a department or faculty that meets the "Graduation Prerequisites for Application to Graduate Programs" determined by the Board of Health Sciences Institute and approved by the Karadeniz Technical University Senate.
- Having ALES (Quantitative/Equally Weighted) and a Foreign Language base score determined by the Board of Health Sciences Institute and approved by the KTU Senate (Application and Entry Requirements for the Graduate Programs of the KTU Health Sciences Institute).
OBJECTIVE of THE PROGRAMME  
The goals of the department: are to graduate master of nurses who are able to demonstrate the ability of describing, explaining, applying, criticizing, deciding and teaching the nursing. The related degree provides rights and privileges to practice the profession. It educates student to be employed in the areas where nursing is included. Hospital, school, public health center, universities etc.
RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING  
The "Directive on Recognition of Prior Learning", Senate Decision No. 340 issued on July 28, 2023, has been accepted and entered into force regarding the students registered in all programs of Karadeniz Technical University to determine the principles to be followed for the recognition, crediting, and adaptation of the achievements acquired by the students at non-university institutions.

In this Directive,

- recognition of knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired with special interest through an exemption exam to be substituted as program courses,
- recognition of workplace and internship experiences through portfolio evaluation to be substituted as program courses,
- and the crediting of certificates received from accredited institutions regarding students' special interests are covered.

Announcements of courses included in the scope of recognition of prior learning, applications, and evaluation will be made on the dates specified in the academic calendar. Recognition of prior learning will offer numerous benefits to our students and employers. For our students, increasing professional development and mobility in the labour market, preventing repetition of education and waste of time, providing early graduation, reducing the cost of learning, encouraging learning, and increasing the student's motivation and self-confidence can be counted among the benefits of recognition of prior learning. From the employers' perspectives, it will contribute to satisfying skill or competence deficiencies in the workplace, reducing the time employees spend outside the workplace for training purposes, and thus using resources more efficiently.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS  
The study period of the program is four semesters and can be extended to a maximum of six semesters. By the end of the fourth semester at the latest, the student must have successfully completed minimum seven courses stated in the curriculum including compulsory and elective courses, one of which must be in English, corresponding to at least 21 credits (120 ECTS credits) in total as well as the "Seminar" course and the "Scientific Research and Publication Ethics" course (non-credit). Also, at the end of the sixth semester at the latest, the thesis study must be completed, and the student must be accepted successful in the thesis defense examination.
KTU Graduate Education Regulations
EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT and GRADING REGULATIONS  
Students are subjected to a midterm exam, term study (project, seminar, quiz, assignment, or a second midterm exam), and final exam for each course. The share of the midterm exam in the final grade of the course is 30%, that of the term study is 20%, and that of the final exam is 50%. All exams are graded out of 100 points. For a student to be considered successful in a course, s/he must get at least a letter grade of ?CC? as the end-of-semester grade in that course.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS  
To graduate from the master's degree program, it is necessary to successfully complete;
- minimum seven courses including compulsory courses, one of which must be in English, corresponding to at least 21 credits (120 ECTS credits) in total as well as the "Seminar" course and the "Scientific Research and Publication Ethics" course (non-credit) by the end of the fourth semester and
- the thesis study by the end of the sixth semester.
OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES of GRADUATES  
Nurses are working particulary the departments management/education and clinics of public and private hospitals, relevant departments of the Ministry of Health, nursing department of faculties of health sciences and health schools, family and community health centers, schools, nursing homes and child care centers.

DEPARTMENTAL FACILITIES : 
In our program, 2 associate professors will carry out academic education and scientific activities at the graduate level. Students will be able to benefit from the social and cultural opportunities of the university. Training opportunities are as follows: In the pediatric skills laboratory, one five-year-old child care and intervention simulator, newborn baby care and intervention dummy, pediatric IV injection intervention model, newborn cephalic and injection intervention model, newborn baby leg injection intervention model, occlusion intervention model (Heimlich), child arm injection education model, 2 baby models, bedside monitor, baby jeans, 2 incubators, 1 phototherapy device, Pediatric patient beds, 1 aspirator device, laryngoscope sets, infusion pump sets, pulseoximeter, double-eared stethoscope and baby care and There are equipment that can be used in drug treatment.
