FOUNDATION & HISTORY  
Karadeniz Technical University Maçka Vocational School was established on 07.05.1996 in accordance with the provisions of Article 7 / d-2 of Higher Education Law No. 2547 and 2880. The Associate Degree in Laboratory and Veterinary Assistance Services program started in 2018-2019 academic year.
QUALIFICATION AWARDED  
Students who have a minimum average course load at the end of a semester and a grade average of 3,00 to 3,50 students are "Honored Student" and 3.51 to 4,00 students are "High Honor Student ".

ADMISSION & REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS  
Admission of students to the first year of Vocational School programs is based on the results of selection and placement exams organized by the ÖSYM. In order for the registration of the students to be finalized, they must fulfill the following conditions. a) Present a certificate or official document showing that you have graduated from a high school or a balanced school. b) Not being disabled by health status, military service or similar.
OBJECTIVE of THE PROGRAMME  
A total of four Academicals personals, one teaching staff and three lecturers, conduct education and training activities. The physical and human facilities of the High School are utilized together. Our department has 3 well equipped laboratories.
RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING  
The "Directive on Recognition of Prior Learning", Senate Decision No. 340 issued on July 28, 2023, has been accepted and entered into force regarding the students registered in all programs of Karadeniz Technical University to determine the principles to be followed for the recognition, crediting, and adaptation of the achievements acquired by the students at non-university institutions.

In this Directive,

- recognition of knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired with special interest through an exemption exam to be substituted as program courses,
- recognition of workplace and internship experiences through portfolio evaluation to be substituted as program courses,
- and the crediting of certificates received from accredited institutions regarding students' special interests are covered.

Announcements of courses included in the scope of recognition of prior learning, applications, and evaluation will be made on the dates specified in the academic calendar. Recognition of prior learning will offer numerous benefits to our students and employers. For our students, increasing professional development and mobility in the labour market, preventing repetition of education and waste of time, providing early graduation, reducing the cost of learning, encouraging learning, and increasing the student's motivation and self-confidence can be counted among the benefits of recognition of prior learning. From the employers' perspectives, it will contribute to satisfying skill or competence deficiencies in the workplace, reducing the time employees spend outside the workplace for training purposes, and thus using resources more efficiently.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS  
To successfully complete all the courses in the program (for a total of 120 ECTS), obtain a weighted average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00
EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT and GRADING REGULATIONS  
Students are required to take a midterm exam, a midterm work (project, quiz, homework, laboratory or similar) or a final exam at the end of each semester. Midterm, midterm work and final exam grades are given over 100 points.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS  
In order to be awarded a vocational school certificate, the average grade of the student must be at least 2.00. Graduation average grade is calculated over 4.00 and education status is indicated on the certificate.
OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES of GRADUATES  
Graduates of Laboratory and Veterinary Assistance Services Program can work as Laboratory technician in normal government hospital laboratories and in private hospital laboratories.
ACCESS to FURTHER STUDIES  
Graduates of the program may work as assistant technical personnel in the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, private veterinary hospitals, laboratories and private farms, or poultry, cattle (meat and milk), husbandry and feed industry. Moreover, they can set up their own business with the help of knowledge they acquire during their study. additionally Graduates of the program are required to take the Vertical Transfer Examination from Associate to Undergraduate Degree Programs (DGS) held by the Evaluation, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) in order to transfer to an on-campus or open education undergraduate program.
