FOUNDATION & HISTORY  
Karadeniz Technical University, Araklı Vocational School Directorate was established by decision of Higher Education Council dated 28.03.2013. Occupational High School which will start to receive students with Occupational Health and Safety Program under the Department of Property Protection and Safety in the academic year of 2017-2018 10.10.2016 By the time of its history, it started teaching education on its own.
QUALIFICATION AWARDED  
Graduates who successfully complete the program by satisfying all the requirements are awarded "Associate Degree in Occupational Health and Safety". Occupational Health and Safety Technicians.

MODE of STUDY  
Full Time
ADMISSION & REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS  
High school graduate students are placed in the program according to the results of the Higher Education Entrance Exam within the quota. Placement is done by OSYM. Enrollment requirements are the same as the Higher Education Entry system.
OBJECTIVE of THE PROGRAMME  
All kinds of tools, equipment and machinery used in the workplace and other elements that will create a risk in the building security, which protect the employees from the work accidents, occupational diseases, ensuring the production security and using the time and personal performance in the maximum efficiency by minimizing the risks, And to ensure that the workplace and the environment are safe as well as the safety of the worker and the work environment. In addition to being destroyed at the source of the danger, to increase the efficiency of the work by giving all the attention of the employees to work, And contributing to the country's economy by increasing the profitability of the business on this issue are also among the purposes of the Occupational Health and Safety Program.
RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING  
The "Directive on Recognition of Prior Learning", Senate Decision No. 340 issued on July 28, 2023, has been accepted and entered into force regarding the students registered in all programs of Karadeniz Technical University to determine the principles to be followed for the recognition, crediting, and adaptation of the achievements acquired by the students at non-university institutions.



In this Directive,



- recognition of knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired with special interest through an exemption exam to be substituted as program courses,

- recognition of workplace and internship experiences through portfolio evaluation to be substituted as program courses,

- and the crediting of certificates received from accredited institutions regarding students' special interests are covered.


Announcements of courses included in the scope of recognition of prior learning, applications, and evaluation will be made on the dates specified in the academic calendar.
Recognition of prior learning will offer numerous benefits to our students and employers. For our students, increasing professional development and mobility in the labour market, preventing repetition of education and waste of time, providing early graduation, reducing the cost of learning, encouraging learning, and increasing the student's motivation and self-confidence can be counted among the benefits of recognition of prior learning. From the employers' perspectives, it will contribute to satisfying skill or competence deficiencies in the workplace, reducing the time employees spend outside the workplace for training purposes, and thus using resources more efficiently.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS

EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT and GRADING REGULATIONS  
It is necessary that at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of the applications should be continued for each student to enroll in classes at the beginning of the semester and to be able to take the final exam. Students are required to take at least one midterm exam and a final exam for each course. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. 50% midterm exam (written, project, homework, laboratory exam, quiz, etc.) is calculated from the sum of 50% final exam and the final exam grade must be at least 45%.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS  
Students who successfully complete all the courses in the two year education plan, who have at least 120 ECTS and complete the 40 day internship, are awarded associate degree in occupational health and safety field.
OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES of GRADUATES  
Employees in the field of Occupational Health and Safety are responsible for all aspects of their work, both indoor and outdoor areas, where the work is subject to flexible fieldwork such as industrial production facilities and construction mining. Employees in this area may work individually in the name of their counseling service or Occupational Health and Safety responsibility, or they may also work as a team on the Occupational Health and Safety Board. Due to the work areas that cover all sectors, it is a matter of being influenced by the work done, the machines used and the environmental climate. Occupational Health and Safety Program graduates; Occupational Health and Safety As a job security officer, Occupational Health and Safety Engineer, Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, they can work in various stages of all sectors
ACCESS to FURTHER STUDIES  
Students can continue their undergraduate studies in the following undergraduate programs by entering the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) which will be done by ÖSYM if they graduate by completing this program successfully.

DEPARTMENTAL FACILITIES : 
There are 2 classes with a capacity of 60 people in the department. In addition, computer courses are given in the computer laboratory of our school, which has 40 computers.
