| Department of Energy Systems Engineering was established in 22.02.2011 under The OF of TECHNOLOGY FACULTY. The Department accepts students with two different types of quotas. The first quota is open to High School graduates. The second type of quota just is open to Vocational and Technical Secondary School (Turkish called MTOK) graduates. Students from the second type of quota take scientific preparation for a year. Successfully students passed scientific preparatory continues education -teaching from the first grade.The department started to admit students in the academic year 2013-2014. | | | QUALIFICATION AWARDED | | | Energy Systems Engineer (Level of Qualification: First Cycle Degree) | | | LEVEL of QUALIFICATION: | | | First Cycle Degree | | | MODE of STUDY | | | Full Time | | | ADMISSION & REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS | | 1 - Students is selected according to the results of the selection and placement exams which is organized by Assessment, Selection and Placement Center (Turkish called ÖSYM).
The students admitted to the University must fulfill the following conditions for final registration:
a) To Submit high school diploma or an official document showing that its equivalent graduated from a school.
b) The original or a certified copy of the documents required for registration are accepted . Veteran status, and criminal record shall be taken on the basis of declaration of the candidate. | | | OBJECTIVE of THE PROGRAMME | | | The Department of Energy systems engineering ,having to experts, young and dynamic academic personal, applies comprehensive education-training programs with practical. Aim of the department; to prepares efficient, reliable and sustainable environment for energy, to take advantage of environmental and technology with scientific approach, to train qualified scientists having to spirit of researcher, productive,internalize scientific thinking. Mission of the department; to produce graduates having to sensitive to the energy,loving nature, willing and creative,respect for science, innovator, production of energy from source up to the end use all stages of the process able to plan and manage. | | | RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING | | The "Directive on Recognition of Prior Learning", Senate Decision No. 340 issued on July 28, 2023, has been accepted and entered into force regarding the students registered in all programs of Karadeniz Technical University to determine the principles to be followed for the recognition, crediting, and adaptation of the achievements acquired by the students at non-university institutions.
In this Directive,
- recognition of knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired with special interest through an exemption exam to be substituted as program courses,
- recognition of workplace and internship experiences through portfolio evaluation to be substituted as program courses,
- and the crediting of certificates received from accredited institutions regarding students' special interests are covered.
Announcements of courses included in the scope of recognition of prior learning, applications, and evaluation will be made on the dates specified in the academic calendar.
Recognition of prior learning will offer numerous benefits to our students and employers. For our students, increasing professional development and mobility in the labour market, preventing repetition of education and waste of time, providing early graduation, reducing the cost of learning, encouraging learning, and increasing the student's motivation and self-confidence can be counted among the benefits of recognition of prior learning. From the employers' perspectives, it will contribute to satisfying skill or competence deficiencies in the workplace, reducing the time employees spend outside the workplace for training purposes, and thus using resources more efficiently. | | | QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS | | The students must be passed all courses (240 ECTS credits).
General point average must be at least 2.0 out of 4.0,
60 business days training course must be completed according to training course regulations of The OF of TECHNOLOGY FACULTY | | | EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT and GRADING REGULATIONS | | The students each semester, midterm exams, projects, seminars, quizzes, homework, lab, or the like shall be subject to mid-term and final exam work. Mid-term studies, and final exam notes are over 100 points.
Final application for a course during the semester, at least one midterm examination is given. However, in the course of the project, homework, lab, application, and similar studies may replace midterm the department decision of the board.
Contribution of Mid-term, final end-of-term, greats and make-up exams to course grade is 50%.
Order to take the final exam of a course, it is to be registered to the course, and at least 70% of lessons learned for the first time, the application and / or laboratories are required to attend at least 80%. Students who fulfill the these conditions don't take final end-of-term . This student is the letter grade of D (staple).
Contribution of final end-of-term to the course grade is 50%.
If letter grade is one of (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC), Students are considered successful the course. In addition, If Student with Semester Point Average are greater than 2.00 students are considered successful courses with letter grade of (DC).
If letter grade is one of (FF), (FD) and (DD), Students fail the course. In addition, If Student with Semester Point Average are at least 2.00 students fail courses with letter grade of (DC). | | | GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS | | The students must be passed all courses (240 ECTS credits).

be able to serve. | | | ACCESS to FURTHER STUDIES | | | | | CONTACT INFORMATION | | | | | DEPARTMENTAL FACILITIES : | | | There are 5 classroom each one 60 people and 125 square meters. Classroom is inclined and there are projections in classrooms. There are 2 PC laboratory each one 50 people and 125 square meters. There is lecture theater, 180 people and 215 square meters. There are 4 laboratory each one 60 people and 250 square meters. Project in Department Energy Systems Engineering continues about wind power and solar energy and also there is hydroelectric power plant in vicinity of department. Wind and solar measurement station and hydroelectric power plant will contribute to a large extent the students' practice-oriented education. There are miniature a soccer field, a basketball field and volleyball field in the Faculty.Students can stay in Loans and Dormitories Institution's student residences located next to the faculty. |
