FOUNDATION & HISTORY  
Vocational School of Health Services was established under the Rectorate of Karadeniz Technical University on 25.11.1989, in accordance with the letter of the Council of Higher Education dated 13.12.1989 and numbered BÖ/0706002/3648-266143 and the law numbered 2547 and article 7/b-2 of the amendment made in the law numbered 2880. "Medical Documentation and Secretarial Program" within the Department of Medical Services and Techniques of the Vocational School of Health Services, admitted its first students in the 1996-1997 academic year.
QUALIFICATION AWARDED  
Students who successfully complete the program are awarded an associate degree in Medical Documentation and Secretarial.

ADMISSION & REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS  

Students are accepted to the Medical Documentation and Secretarial Program with their score from the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) Basic Proficiency Exam (TYT) conducted by the Evaluation, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

OBJECTIVE of THE PROGRAMME  
RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING  
The "Recognition of Prior Learning Directive" has been accepted and entered into force with the Senate Decision No. 340 dated 28.07.2023, in order to determine the principles to be followed for the recognition, crediting and adjustment of the achievements of students registered in all programs of Karadeniz Technical University outside a Higher Education Institution. Program students can apply to be considered successful in the courses determined by the Vocational School, provided that they comply with this Directive. Announcement of courses included in the scope of recognition of prior learning, receipt of applications and evaluation are made on the dates specified in the academic calendar.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS  
Students who successfully complete all courses of the two-year (four semesters) education program and a 30-day summer internship receive an associate degree.
EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT and GRADING REGULATIONS  
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS  

Medical Documentation and Secretarial Program students must successfully complete all compulsory and elective courses containing 120 ECTS credits, have a general weighted point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, and complete a 30 working day summer internship at the end of the second semester. If they complete it successfully according to the "Directive on Principles and Procedures Regarding Domestic / International Summer Internships of Vocational School, they can graduate with an associate degree.

OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES of GRADUATES  
Our graduates of the Medical Documentation and Secretarial program receive the title of "Health Technician". In addition to medical units such as clinics, outpatient clinics, laboratories, operating rooms and emergency services of public health institutions, they can also work in administrative units such as health board, patient admission, patient files archive, personnel, revolving fund and purchasing. In the private sector, they can work in private hospitals, private health centers, private laboratories, private clinics, pharmacies, private radiology centers, pharmaceutical warehouses and software companies.
ACCESS to FURTHER STUDIES  
Those who successfully complete their associate degree education can take the DGS (Vertical Transfer Exam) exam and transfer to the undergraduate programs determined by Evaluation, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) within the framework of the relevant legislation of Council of Higher Education (YÖK), according to their success status and scores.
Our graduates of the Medical Documentation and Secretarial program can make vertical transfer to Business Administration, Health Management and International Business Management undergraduate programs.

DEPARTMENTAL FACILITIES : 
There is a computer laboratory with 20 PCs and internet access, and a total of 5 classrooms, 1 for 20 and 4 for 50 people.
