FOUNDATION & HISTORY  
Biomedical Device Technology Program was opened in 2000 in Trabzon Vocational School Technical Programs Department . In 2005-2006 academic period, Biomedical Device Technology Program was transferred to Trabzon Health Services Vocational School. During the 2008-2009 academic year it was transferred again to Trabzon Vocational School. This program is still depends on the Trabzon Vocational School Electronics and Automation Department. The program has a number of the quota of 30 students and two faculty members. Until the end of 2013 more than 90 technicians graduated from the Biomedical Device Technology.
QUALIFICATION AWARDED  
Students who successfully complete the program (120 credits) with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00, who also successfully complete the vocational internship, are awarded an Associate Degre in Biomedical Device Technology.

ADMISSION & REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS  
1 - This is accepted into the program and registration requirements under the legislation of the Turkish Higher Education. In this section, the graduate of vocational high school students are admitted without examination to that program within the quota. Empty the remaining quotas are placed according to the results of entrance examinations to higher education with a standard high school graduates. Placement is made by SSPC. Registration requirements are the same as higher education system
OBJECTIVE of THE PROGRAMME  
The courses in Biomedical Device Technology program consists the teaching plan and the content of these courses under the educational and training modules that cover applications.
RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING  
The "Directive on Recognition of Prior Learning", Senate Decision No. 340 issued on July 28, 2023, has been accepted and entered into force regarding the students registered in all programs of Karadeniz Technical University to determine the principles to be followed for the recognition, crediting, and adaptation of the achievements acquired by the students at non-university institutions.

In this Directive,

- recognition of knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired with special interest through an exemption exam to be substituted as program courses,
- recognition of workplace and internship experiences through portfolio evaluation to be substituted as program courses,
- and the crediting of certificates received from accredited institutions regarding students' special interests are covered.

Announcements of courses included in the scope of recognition of prior learning, applications, and evaluation will be made on the dates specified in the academic calendar. Recognition of prior learning will offer numerous benefits to our students and employers. For our students, increasing professional development and mobility in the labour market, preventing repetition of education and waste of time, providing early graduation, reducing the cost of learning, encouraging learning, and increasing the student's motivation and self-confidence can be counted among the benefits of recognition of prior learning. From the employers' perspectives, it will contribute to satisfying skill or competence deficiencies in the workplace, reducing the time employees spend outside the workplace for training purposes, and thus using resources more efficiently.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS  
Associate's degree students are successfully completing their internship in two years (four semesters) long training and completing all courses in vocational education programs
EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT and GRADING REGULATIONS  
The students midterm exam, final work (projects, seminars, quizzes, homework or a second mid-term exam) and are subject to the final exam. The mid-term exam, if any, mid-term and final exam is 50% of 50% of the work has contributed. All exams are graded out of 100 points is considered absolute. Final exam, students are required to obtain at least 40 points. Final notes converted into letter grades relative grade system. (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) that the students are considered successful one. Students at the end of each semester, the semester's courses that they have failed in the examination, they may take the makeup exam.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS  
Students who successfully complete the program (120 credits) with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00, who also successfully complete the vocational internship, are awarded an Associate Degree in this progamme
OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES of GRADUATES  
Biomedical device technology program students are employed in the goods / service companies, public institutions and organizations
ACCESS to FURTHER STUDIES  
Students have rights that completing bachelor's degree after OSYM vertical transition examination. Students who have complated Biomedical Equipment Technology associate degree program, can transfer to Biomedical Engineering, Electrical - Electronic Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electronic and Communications Engineering degree programs by vertical transition DGS exam. In addition, all graduates have rights that continue to open Education Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and complete their bachelor's degree.
