The aim of the course:
To teach about pumps, boillers and evoparators used in the ships.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Understand general information of various pumps11,
LO - 2 : Evaluate of efficiency, power of pumps and cavitations of pumps11,
LO - 3 : Evaluate pumps characteristics and applying various examples of pump applications11,
LO - 4 : Evaluate steam boiler and evaporator and do some numerical examples for steam boiler11,
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome

 Week 1General Information: Flow, pressure and pressure measurments. Classification of pumps and general information of centrifugal pumps and volumetric pumps.
 Week 2Volumetric pumps: Piston pumps and geap pumps.
 Week 3Numerical applications relate to volumetric pumps.
 Week 4Centrifugal pumps.
 Week 5Characteristics of centrifugal pumps: Formulation of manometric height, power and efficiencies.
 Week 6Theories using in pumps design and results of these theories.
 Week 7Numerical applications relate to centrifugal pumps.
 Week 8Determination of working point of centrifugal pumps and cavitation.
 Week 9Mid-term exam
 Week 10Numerical applications.
 Week 11Fossil fuels and properties of hydrocarbons. Air-excess coefficient and combustion types. Combustion stoichiometry. Enthalpy of combustion and heating values.
 Week 12Numerical applications relate to fossil fuels combustion.
 Week 13Numerical applications relate to fossil fuels combustion.
 Week 14The promotion of steam boilers, classification and working principles.
 Week 15Evaporators study and classification.
