The aim of the course:
1. Lead students to adopt the goal of IMO regarding; safe, secure and efficient shipping on clean oceans 2. To provide students with the standard training and experience required under the STCW Convention 3. Accelerate adaptation to the ship after graduation by learning all the operations carried out on board, 4. Providing the permanence of the theoretical knowledge by converting it into practice with active and applied learning approach.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :

LO - 2 : Know bridge, deck, deck auxiliary machinery and all systems.
LO - 3 : Learn watchkeeping and maneuvering.
LO - 4 : Learn operations during port.
LO - 5 : Learn ship safety and security management system and the documents.

Contents of the Course
Be familiar with all equipment and riggings on board, be familiar with the bridge, navigation equipment, the use and maintenance of equipment, deck fittings and equipments, auxiliary equipment on the deck, and all the necessary systems on board. Getting to know the engine room, familiar with the general use of main and auxiliary engines. Keeping watches on the bridge (navigational watch, anchor watch, drift watch) and cargo operations. To be able to carry out maneuver preparations and checks. To be familiar with the applications during maneuvering. Be familiar with the operations carried out in port except other than cargo operation (such as; taking provision, fresh water supply, waste delivery, etc.). Having knowledge about international safety management system (ISM) and international ship and port security (ISPS) requirements and documentation system. Be familiar with documentation and processes at the berthing and departure. Be familiar with the processes and documentation of the surveys and inspections.
