The aim of the course:
To gain ship manouvering and management skill according to STCW 2010 requirements on management level.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : to recognize and use different ship types, bridge equipments on different environment situation.2,5,81,4,

Contents of the Course
Use of electronical navigation aids (Arpa Radar, ECDIS etc.). Introduce of ship manouvering characteristics in bridge simulation. Difference manouvering training (Berthing, unberthing, anchoring, channel etc.). Emergency manouvering.

 Week 4Introduction the characteristics of different types of vessels, pivot point, propeller types, stopping distance, bow & stern thruster, shallow water, bank effect.
 Week 5Planning ship berthing and departure before maneuvering and emergency situtation.
 Week 6Teaching of effects to manuver of local physical conditions, wind, tides, sea and visibility conditions.
 Week 7Simple maneuvers, turning maneuvers, travers, drift with different ship types.
 Week 8Simple maneuvers, turning maneuvers, travers, drift under different physical conditions and meteorological conditions with different ship types.
 Week 9MID-TERM EXAM
 Week 10Narrow channels and shallow water navigation and ship handling operations at the challenges in these areas. Shallow water and bank effects.

 Week 12Selection and use of tugboats.
 Week 13Selection and use of tugboats. The interactions between two moving ship. The interactions between ship and shore. Monitoring of ship position and movements.
 Week 14Docking, respond to emergency situations, heavy weather navigation and tactics.
 Week 15Bridge communication, pilot communications, ensuring the implementation of resource management rules.
