The aim of the course:
Providing seamanship on merchant ships and introducing the equipment on board.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :

LO - 3 : describe deck equipment, ship particularly and structure1,
LO - 4 : describe ship tonnages and marine measurement1,2,
LO - 5 : know part of the sailing boats, lifeboat and rigging1,4,

Contents of the Course
History of seamanship, general terms of seamanship, introductory elements of the ship, direction, tonnage, ship types and classification, life on board, customs, ship structure and sections, keel, frame and beam, decks, partitions, bottom tanks, top and side tanks, warehouses, hatch mouths, hatch opening and closing equipment, bilge wells and lines, ballast tanks and circuits, fuel tanks and slop tanks, tank in tankers structure. sailing equipment use of sailboats and boats, deck equipment, Head and stern deck equipment, windlass, navigation language, ship head and stern structures, engine room. Propeller and rudder equipment. Introduction of chemical, LPG, LNG and crude oil tankers, operational and safety trainings.
