The aim of the course:
Navigation, has been prepared to give the students necessary knowledge for trestial and electronic navigation.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : get the knowledge on fundamental principles of navigation. 1,2,3,41,
LO - 2 : use magnetic compass and gyro compass. 1,
LO - 3 : use navigational charts and to correct them. 1,
LO - 4 : do navigational planand to determine global position by using different methods. 1,
LO - 5 : have detailed knowledge on navigational lights and characteristics of buoyage system. 1,
LO - 6 : use electronic navigation equipments. 1,

Contents of the Course
Definition and classification of navigation. The earth, its shape and rotation, poles, latitudes, longitudes, difference of latitudes and longitudes. Magnetic compass, magnetism of the earth and the ships. Variation and deviation. Gyro compass. Marine navigation charts and usage of marine charts, type of position and method to plot a position. Navigational lights. List of lights, lights ranges and characteristics buoyage system. Terrestrial navigation. Coastal navigation. Current navigation. Electronic navigation.
