Contents of the Course
The main features of verbal language and verbal communication. Verbal Expression: the main features of speech skills (native language, and physical lanquage ) ; the basic principles of a good speech; the basic characteristics of a good speaker (stress, tone, retention, diction) . prepared or not prepared speech; the steps of a prepared speech (Choosing the subject, and limiting it; aim , view, stating main and subordinate ideas, planning, writing the text, presenting the speech) . The kinds of Speech1 ( mutual talk, conversation, introducing oneself, answering the questions, celebrating important days like birthdays, festivals, new years day; giving direction, talking on the phone , applying for a job, interviewing, speech on TV or Radio, joining as a speaker in a cultural and art programmes) . Making unprepared speech , the studies on speech samples, the applications of verbal expression, correcting the mistakes of verbal and grammar in the speech.

 Week 2To tell different listening techniques (careful listening, true listening, critical listening) with examples; the importance of taking notes in listening skill.
 Week 3Physical and psychological factors that prevent effective listening; The necessities to increase productivity of listening skill.
 Week 4The importance of speaking skill; methods and techniques used to develop speaking skill.
 Week 5The importance of diction; To show some important issues in the pronunciation of Turkish words with examples.
 Week 6To show speaking mistakes with examples and the ways to correct these.
 Week 7Place of speaking skill in the curriculums, Text reading studies, poetry reading techniques
 Week 8Mid-term exam
 Week 9To teach the steps of preparing speech for important days (prepariation, to control excitement, to plan the speech, the elements that make speech effective)
 Week 10To introduce mutual speech varieties with examples (dialogue and interviews); To make classroom instances
 Week 11To introduce speaking types in front of community with examples (speech and conferences); To make classroom instances
 Week 12To introduce types of controversial speech with examples (discussion, debate, panel); To make classroom instances, quiz.
 Week 13To introduce types of controversial speech with examples (panel, forum, symposium); To make classroom instances
 Week 14To evaluate language mistakes in auditory and visual media with examples, to find solution ways for correcting these mistakes out.
