The aim of the course:
To be able to draw a general framework about today's cities and urbanization by revealing the emergence of cities, the process, problems and results of the city and urbanization, and to gain the ability to evaluate the developments by providing students with knowledge about the developments in the city and urbanization.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : grasp the emergence of cities in relation to civilization. 1,21,
LO - 2 : grasp social, economical and cultural developments that determine urbanization in different periods of history. 1,21,

LO - 4 : grasp approaches relating to urbanization process. 1,21,
LO - 5 : grasp emergence of cities in differnt cultures. 1,21,
LO - 6 : have knowledge on city theories. 1,21,
LO - 7 : have knowledge on on globalization in relation to city. 1,21,

Contents of the Course
The content of the course consists of the emergence of cities in the historical process, urban definitions, urbanization process in the world and in Turkey, urban theories, urban planning, housing policies, urban land policies.
