The aim of the course:
To consolidate, improve, complement shortage and show application of chemistry knowledge which is learned in elementary and secondary schools. The subjects which are defined in course contexts are explained detailed. The solutions of problems are done about these subjects. The examples are given, the connections with daily life are emphasized, and the experiments are practiced in laboratory.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : have the basic knowledge on the concepts such as properties and states of matter, structure of atom, chemical bonds and molecular structure
LO - 2 : write the formulas of ionic compound and Lewis formula of compound
LO - 3 : determine molecular geometries by using compound formulas
LO - 4 : make chemical calculations
LO - 5 : balance chemical equations
LO - 6 : solve gas problems

Contents of the Course
The definition, branches, importance, effect on daily life of the chemistry and looking at the historical development of chemistry, matter and its properties, scientific methods, significant numbers, properties of matter, atom and electronic structure of it, nucleus, atoms? theories, structure of electron, chemical compound, periodic table, compound, chemical reactions, chemical equations, acids and base reactions, reduction and oxidation reactions, gases, ideal gases, thermochemistry, enthalpy, internal energy, entropy, periodic properties, chemical compounds, formation of the compounds (hybriditation, hybrid orbitals and molecular geometry) , chemical bonds, basic concepts and kinds of bonds
