Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :

Contents of the Course
The meaning and importance of language; the relation of language and culture; writing language and its features, outer structure and rules in writing expression, spelling rules and punctuation marks, layout in writing, plot, view, suppording ideas, paragraph writing; concept of composition, layouts and rules of writing a composition; composition framework in selected writings, theme, paragraph examining, composition correcting studies, general expression defects, thinking and expressing thoughts; various writing types, (memory, joke, story, critic, novel, etc. ) , formal writings (background, petition, report, announcement, bibliographi, notification, formal writings, scientific writings, articles, etc. ) , studying on the entrance, body and consequence parts of articles, study of writing an article, the methods and techniques of taking notes and summarazing.

 Week 1The problems and solution ways of these problems of written expression in Turkish; relation of communication-language-national culture; the importance of reading in human life; the necessities to be able to make students gain reading habit.
 Week 2To tell different reading techniques with examples (purposeless reading, free reading, audio reading, silent reading, critical reading, collective reading)
 Week 3The physical and psychological factors that prevent effective reading; to make a text read permanent; to develop fast reading skill.
 Week 4The importance of writing skills; The ways to be successful in written expression (style,observation,reading,thinking)
 Week 5To tell the planning written expression in the view of style and content with examples.
 Week 6The necessities for a successful text; features of a good sentence and paragraph; to make parapraph creating studies.
 Week 7To introduce expression styles with examples (descriptive expression, supporting expression, depicting expression, story narrative expression, expression in verse, expression through speaking
 Week 8To introduce teaching methods of writing with examples (controlled writing, free writing, writing with the dictation method, research-based writing, guided writing, writing with the cluster study)
 Week 9Mid-term exam
 Week 10To introduce types of form writing (autobiography, petition, report); to determine expression defeats on the sentences.
 Week 11To introduce types of form writing (letter, telegraph, minutes, and notification; to determine expression defeats on the sentences.
 Week 12To introduce types of tutorial text with examples (article, review, test, chat, and anecdote); to determine expression defeats on the sentences
 Week 13To introduce types of tutorial text with examples (interviews, memoirs, biography and travel); to determine expression defeats on the sentences
 Week 14To introduce Literary types with examples (legends, tales, fable, stories, novels and poetry)
