The aim of the course:
Upon the successful completion of the course, students will be able to: ? Demonstrate an understanding of the interrelationships between regional, national, and global socio-political and cultural conditions and collect political communication behavior. ? Analyze multiple perspectives (e.g., religious, psychological, and sociological) on political communication. ? Formulate potential election strategies related to domestic, transnational, and international political communication. ? Demonstrate an understanding of the many issues of defining and conceptualizing political communication.

Contents of the Course
This course considers the degree to which Turkish? political opinions and actions are influenced by the media as well as the influence of the media on public policy. Topics to be covered include history of the mass media, recent trends in the media, theories of media effects, the implications for politics of changes in media the ways in which the new shapes the public?s perceptions of the political world, campaign communication, how the media affect the manner in which public officials govern, and the general role of the media in the democratic process.
