The aim of the course:
The course deals with the most important theories and models of democracy, from its early beginnings to the present.

Contents of the Course
This course focuses on contemporary debates about the meaning and nature of democracy and examines the idea of democracy from a range of historical, normative and theoretical perspectives. The course seeks to expose students both to some of the classic debates in the history of democratic thought and to some influential contemporary works in democratic theory. Throughout the course, we will discusse and compare several traditions within democratic theory which approach the meaning and nature of democracy differently.
