The aim of the course:
This course aims at introducing the origins, theory and the practice of international institutions in world politics, with a particular focus on their raison d?etat, memberships, institutional structures and political processes. This course is designed to equip the students with an understanding of the role of international institutions in the international system, including their impact on providing regional/global peace and security as well as managing inter-economic, political, cultural, societal and functional relations.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :

LO - 2 : understand the theoretical and empirical aspects of the study of international organizations9,101,

Contents of the Course
The international organizations introduced in this course range from the Ancient Greek establishments to the United Nations, from the European Union to the African Union, from the Bretton Woods institutions to the Amnesty International. Due to its scope and importance, the workings and the performance of the UN, as well as regionalist trend of international organizations are amongst the highlights of this course.
