The aim of the course:
The aim of this course is to examine the main approaches and current events in international security studies from both theoretical and policy-oriented perspectives.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : Literature of security studies will understand traditional and alternative views on international security101,
PO - 2 : Apply different security theories analytically to security problems and tests101,
PO - 3 : Understand the diversity of actors and interests involved in the security policy making process.101,
PO - 4 : Assess the impact of globalization on international security.101,

Contents of the Course
The course will introduce the evolution of security practices and provide insight into different security definitions. Once the realistic approach, Copenhagen School, Critical Security Studies and Human Security approaches are examined, security issues such as international terrorism, weapons of mass destruction and environmental security will be analyzed.
