The aim of the course:
Interpretation and learning principles of aesthetic evaluation from the point of Architectural, basic design and Gestalt theory.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : learn the process of historical development-change and make contact with aesthetic in architecture.61

Contents of the Course
Definition of aesthetics, beauty, art and architecture, aesthetics and its problem areas, aesthetical doctrines, environmental aesthetics, Gestalt theory in perception, capacities aesthetics in architecture, visual balance, concepts related to form features; unit dimension (module) , concept of union, measurement and proportion, rhythm, symmetry, basic design elements and design principles, formation approaches; envision of form, visualization and imaginary, real form, imagination, realization, construction of form, developing idea and concept.

 Week 4Aesthetic judgement, data processing, aesthetic experience.
 Week 5Aesthetics as an assessment criteria in architecture, formal aesthetics in architecture.
 Week 6Expression gain of the form and Gestalt principles in architecture, ?arrangement? concept in architecture, proportional arrangements / quantitative aesthetics, the movement of architectural form.
 Week 7Visual stability in architecture, rhythm in architecture, unidity / wholeness in architecture
 Week 8The factual characters of architectural form, symbolic aesthetics in architecture, symbolic meaning.
 Week 9Mid-term exam.
 Week 10Analogy / simulation in architecture, semilogy and architecture, architectural variables that bears symbolic meaning.
 Week 11Aesthetic assessment criterias in architecture; cultural criteria, perceptual behavioral criteria, environmental image criteria, semantic criteria.
 Week 12The illustration and interpretation of the effects of visual pollution in built environment on human psychology.
 Week 13The illustration of aesthetic quality in built environment and the discussion of the preventions that are handled to improve the quality and the examination on the examples.
 Week 14The investigation and the interpretation of basic design and Gestalt principles on architectural examples.
 Week 15The investigation and the interpretation of basic design and Gestalt principles on architectural examples.
