The aim of the course:
This course tries to give a solid understanding of anatomy, development and classification of Bryophytes

Anatomy, development, and classification of hornworts, Morphology and classification of the Marchantiophyta, Morphology and classification of mosses, Origin and phylogenetic relationships of bryophytes, Chemical constituents and biochemistry, Molecular genetic studies of moss species, Control of morphogenesis in bryophytes, Physiological ecology, Mineral nutrition, substratum ecology, and pollution, Peatlands: ecosystems dominated by bryophytes, Role of bryophyte-dominated ecosystems in the global carbon budget, Population ecology, population genetics, and microevolution, Bryogeography and conservation of bryophytes.
