The aim of the course:
To have students learn about the molecular biology of microorganisms, growth of microorganisms at smal and large scales, understand the interactions between microorganisms and their hosts, Fundamentals and of techniques in molecular biology.
 
Programme OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : learn the genetic materials of microorganisms and how they transferred from parent to offspring
PO - 2 : lern how genes of microorganisms are expressed
PO - 3 : learn the new techniques used in molecular biology of microorganisms
PO - 4 : learn the interaction between microorganisms and their respective hosts

Contents of the Course
The nature of microbial nucleic acids and their amplification; molecular hybridization for microbial identification; molecular typing; new technologies; omics in microorganisms; molecular detection of microorganisms; systems microbiology; the pathogen/host interface; laboratory operation and standardization; proficiency-testing programs; quality-control standards and monitoring.
