The aim of the course:
The description of active methylene compounds, properties, synthesis reactions and reactions of methylene compounds and understanding their reaction mechanism.
 
Programme OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : Students will learn the structure and properties of methylene compounds and will learn the methods of obtaining and synthesis reactions.
PO - 2 : Students will learn some synthesis reactions of methylene compounds.

Contents of the Course
Active methylene compounds and Their Synthesis, synthesis reactions of methylene compound, reaction of ß-keto ester compounds, Thorpe reaction, The Thorpe-Ziegler reaction, Gewald reaction, Peterson reaction, Stobbe condensation reaction, Darzens reaction.
