The aim of the course:
The course aims to provide the students with a general knowledge on semantics (semiology) and the general conception of the world as a sign system, on different layers of semiosis (meaning production period) , to enable them to understand how people communicate each other using sign theory, how meaning convey in this period and how a person can decode this encoded meaning systems, to help them use their knowledge to understand the environmental meaning produced as a cultural formation, the role of landscape meanings in environmental evaluation, to teach them how to search for environmental evaluation, man-environment interaction and using decision making process in environmental design.

Programme OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : summarize the semantic (semiology) theory, and sign systems and be able to explain how people communicate with their environment by using sign systems in order to convey meanings.1,2,7,10,12,132,5
PO - 2 : describe how can a landscape designer use semiology (semiotics) to encode and decode environmental meanings.1,2,7,10,12,133,5
PO - 3 : choose a specific research topic and apply encoding and decoding processes of meaning.1,2,7,10,11,12,132,5
