The aim of the course:
To have information about children's outdoor use and the criteria of open space to support their different developmental areas, to learn design strategies for children's spaces with different functions in open spaces (school gardens, playgrounds, natural areas, streets, etc.), methods and application procedures used in research on children and the environment and to have knowledge of affordance theory and content.

Contents of the Course
The course focuses on child and environment interaction, child spaces that possess different functions (schoolyards, playgrounds, natural areas, streets, etc) outdoors, how children use these spaces and how these spaces should be designed. In this context, knowledge will be given about affordance theory to evaluate that these spaces presents opportunities for children. In addition, will be mentioned methods used in child and environmental research and study topics.
