In this course, fundamental physical, chemical, geological, and biological processes occurring in ocean environments are examined in the context of how they impact humans, environmental disturbances due to human activities in coastal environments and how humans have impacted the ocean. Topics include coastal oceanography and shore processes, water chemistry, circulation, and air/sea interactions as related to pollution and climate change. Coastal environment are carried out, including descriptive and dynamic studies on density currents and wind driven currents in regions of estuary, bay and shelf. The role of coastal fronts and water circulation associated with them in the exchange and transport of materials are of major concern. Oceanographic and geological criteria for outfall and dumping of solid wastes. |
