The aim of the course:
The main objectives of this course are to provide the student with a clear presentation of the concepts and principles of coast and coastal oceanography.

Contents of the Course
General properties of coastal oceans and seas. Topographic characteristics of coasts. Ekman layer dynamics and stratification of shallow seas . Tides in shallow waters. Fronts in shallow seas and estuaries. Water masses. Salt balance, flushing time, pollutant disposal, sediment transport in estuaries and bays. Coastal damage and erosion.
