The aim of the course:
The main objectives of this course are to give some information about wood weathering and protection methods of wood against weathering factors

Contents of the Course
Effects of UV-lights, moisture, temperature, wind and atmosferic factors (oxygen, air pollutant gas etc.) on wood. Weathering effects on the chemical, physical and microscopic changes on wood structure. Photodegradation mechanism of wood. Formation of free radicals. Chromophoric groups and mechanism of colour changes on wood surface. Interactions between weathering factors and wood components and protection methods of wood against weathering.
