The aim of the course:
The objectives are to learn the performance and durability of wood material in different conditions.

Contents of the Course
Material properties of wood, chemical properties of wood, durability issues. Biological deterioration, fungi and bacteria test methodology. Marine borers, insect deterioration, test methodology. Control of biological deterioration: design, treatment, new preservative systems. Thermal modification, thermal degradation and fire protection. Recycling of treated wood. UV, weathering and other physical deterioration effects. Long term loading effects, creep. Long term durability and performance of composites. Test methodology for Wood Composites long-term performance. Protection of wood composites
