The aim of the course:
The course aims to determine the importance of bonding process in the manufacturing of composite wood products, to compare the bonding process with other joining methods and to define the bonding theories valid for wood materials.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :

Bonding process of wood materials and its importance, Advantages of bonding compared to other joining methods, Factors affecting the performance of glued joints in wood based panel products, Relationship between the adhesion and cohesion and effects of these forces on bonding, Chain structure defined for wood-adhesive bonding system, Bonding theories valid for wood materials, Mechanical interlocking theory, Adsorption theory, Diffusion theory, Electrostatic theory, Covalent chemical bonding theory
