The aim of the course:
The aim of the course is to teach the basic knowledge about calculation of biomarker parameters, interpretating the age, lithology and depositional environment of source rock, and type, maturity and biodegradation of organic matter by using biomarker data.

Programme OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : The students will have basic knowledge about biomarker and using biomarker data in determination of petroleum and source rock, and will understand the importance of biomarkers in geology.1
PO - 2 : The students will have ability to interpret biomarker data recorded in mass chromatograms.1,3
PO - 3 : The students will have ability to interpret organic matter type, maturity, biodegradation, depositional environment, lithology and geological age for petroleum and source rock by using biomarker data.1,3
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), PO : Learning Outcome
