JLJ5710 | Computer Aided Geological Drawing | 3+0+0 | ECTS:7.5 | Year / Semester | Fall Semester | Level of Course | Second Cycle | Status | Elective | Department | DEPARTMENT of GEOLOGICAL ENGINEERING | Prerequisites and co-requisites | None | Mode of Delivery | Face to face | Contact Hours | 14 weeks - 3 hours of lectures per week | Lecturer | -- | Co-Lecturer | None | Language of instruction | Turkish | Professional practise ( internship ) | None | | The aim of the course: | This course aims to enable the geology students to utilise computers to solve geological problems and prepare professional reports. The students are expected to learn how to convert geological information acquired from different fields of geology into digital inputs, and to be able draw geological maps, columnar sections, geological sections, and structural diagrams such as rose- and contour diagrams. Creating a variety of XY and XYZ diagrams (including ternary diagrams) and forming custom templates to use for the interpretation of petrographic and geochemical data are also taught. |
Programme Outcomes | CTPO | TOA | Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to : | | | PO - 1 : | Draw specific and detailed geological maps, sections and sketches | 11,12 | | PO - 2 : | Draw advanced graphics of different kind to present geological data obtained from a variety of techniques. | 11,12 | | PO - 3 : | Draw advanced 2D and 3D contour diagrams for various purposes, draw sections, prepare blok diagrams, and interpret all these drawings | 11,12 | | PO - 4 : | Evaluate structural data by means of computer codes. | 11,12 | | PO - 5 : | Prepare reports of professional quality | 11,12 | | CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), PO : Learning Outcome | |
