The aim of the course:
Students will be learn to methods and equations used in golbal geodynamic applications.This course also deals with mechanics of deformation of the crust and mantle.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :

Contents of the Course
Continuum mechanics applied to geological problems. Local and broad-scale tectonic stresses. Mohr?s circle for strain. Pore fluid pressure effect. Displacements from earthquakes, fault slip in elastic half space earthquake model. Navier-Stokes equations. Corner flow models. Thermal convection in Back-arc and fore-arc. Heat flow,geothermal gardient and thermal difussion. Adams-Williamson equations.
