The aim of the course:
The purpose of the course is to research the relationship between cinema and architecture within the frame of human, space and idea. The course, while considering the cinema as the main concept, accepts the space/spaces of the film as representing the architectural space/spaces. In this context, the course consists of watching the films which have importance in cinema history and interpreting the films through the scale of idea, human and space with design concepts.

PO - 1 : summarize the basic and general concepts about cinema and architecture terminology. 41,2,3,
PO - 2 : summarize the cinematic process since 1895, which is the beginning date of cinematography, to today. 41,2,3
PO - 3 : summarize the architectural process since 10.000 B.C., which is the beginning date of Nomadic Civilization Period, to today. 41,2,3
PO - 4 : analyse the historical interactions between cinema and architecture and to propose synthesis for future developments.45,6
PO - 5 : analyse the semiological-methodological-terminological-educational interactions between cinema and architecture and to propose synthesis for future developments.45,6
PO - 6 : analyse the relationship of cinema and architecture within the basis of space and to propose synthesis for future developments.45,6
PO - 7 : express their original ideas and interpretations about the relationship between cinema and architecture, reading a film, before an audience.45,6

Contents of the Course
The general concepts and conceptions of cinema and architecture: Human, space, idea. The history of cinema: 1896-1912, 1913-1927, 1928-1932, 1932-1946, 1947-1959, 1960-1980 and after 1980. (Louis and Auguste Lumiere Brothers, Georges Melies, Charles Pathe, David Wark Griffith and others...) The history of architecture: Nomadic Civilization Period (10.000-7.000 B.C.), Agricultural Civilization Period (7th Century B.C.- 18th Century A.C.), Agricultural Civilization Period (7th Century B.C.- 18th Century A.C.), Industrial Period. The relationship-interaction of cinema and architecture: Methodological-terminological interaction, cinema provides architecture an experimental environment, educational interaction, movements, the nature of the document being in cinema and architecture, the use of common elements. The space in cinema and architecture: Using the existing space, creating the fictional space. Types of using space in films: Using space as a background, using space as a complementary element, using space as the main element.
