Researching the green roof constructions and system components and presenting detailed principles.

Contents of the Course
The concept of green roof and why it is required. Historical Development. Environmental, structural, social, psychological and esthetics advantages of green roofs. The factor affecting the green roof, protection against these factors and insulation. The properties which should be taken into consideration during the design and application stages. Classification of green roofs and their layers. System components and equipments. The properties of soil layer and ideal plant species. Construction techniques. Types of load bearing roof floor. Intensive and extensive roof planting. Green roof types; low-pitched, pitched, single shell-non ventilated double shell-with ventilated, conventional, inverted position, developed-conventional (double-plus) systems and etc. The examples of green roofs.
