The aim of the course:
Gaining of a critical look at the past, present and future of architecture.
 
Programme OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : know how to establish positive fundamentals for architectural criticism.4,5,85,6
PO - 2 : criticize any other building belonging either to the past or present.4,5,85,6

Contents of the Course
Establishing positive foundations for textual criticism in architecture. Looking for philosophical support for breaching of hermeneutical difficulties. Systematic lookinto philosophical trends. Structuralist and Post-structuralist contributions into architectural criticism. Assessment of ontological, phenomenological, epistemological and semantic influence of Eco, Foucault, Gadamer, Heidegger and Eliade on art and architecture critique. Presentation of a model of criticism for architecture with special emphasis on design concepts.
