The aim of the course:
Rendering of architectural history, theory and applications as a sub-structure for the maintaining of disciplinary memory and design activity.
 
Programme OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : have consciousness towards past syntaxes and semantics of architectural heritage is enhanced.75,6
PO - 2 : be aware of relations between society, culture, geography and architecture are clarified in their mind.75,6
PO - 3 : be interest in changing design principles is aroused; a sense of time as a crucial element with respect to building process is gained.75,6
PO - 4 : have new standpoints, visions are drawn from the critical analyses of past designs- ("Modern")75,6
PO - 5 : understand complex nature of styles, their travel through different countries is clarified and causes for differences.75,6
PO - 6 : define all the concepts involved in architectural past and present.75,6

Contents of the Course
Architectural history, theories and concepts during Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Eclectic, Modern and Post-Modern periods. Lingering effects on architecture today of design concepts that transpire from relationships with philosophy, fine arts and architecture.
