The aim of the course:
GIS as a time saving and facilitative instrument has wide area of usage in all stages of planning processes. Introduce students to GIS so that they can be able use questioning data and supporting decisions in the planning.

Contents of the Course
Introduction to GIS, its main functions and components; How GIS basically works? Main concepts on geographical entities. Data collection techniques and data quality in GIS. Spatial analysis in GIS. Spatial queries, union, overlay, buffering and a proximity analyses. Urban Information Systems (UIS) . Main functions of UIS. Requirements and information management procedures in UIS.

 Week 2Introduction to menus of software. Displayin Browser(Database); Skills of Map Windows.
 Week 3Layers and map; Querying, querying database.
 Week 4Aplications for second and third week lectures.
 Week 5Find and Labeling, working with cosmetic layer.
 Week 6Making thematic map; making thematic map with ranges.
 Week 7Aplications for fourth and fifth week lectures.
 Week 8Opening another database file in the software, export and import with another GIS softwares and CAD softwares.
 Week 9Mid-term exam
 Week 10Geocoding, create points.
 Week 11Aplications for eighth and nineth week lectures.
 Week 12Working wityh buffers; Working with OLE connection.
 Week 13Layout window porperties; create object and editing objects.
