The aim of the course:
The course provides students with a sound knowledge regarding the beneficial effects of utilizing chemical admixtures and mineral additives in concrete.

Significance and reasons of using admixtures in concrete. Considerations and precautions in the use of admixtures. Nomenclature, specifications, and classification of admixtures. Chemical admixtures and their characteristics. Mechanism of action of chemical admixtures. Mineral additives and their characteristics. Mechanism of action of mineral additives. Miscellaneous admixtures. Standard testing methods employed in the use of admixtures in concrete and in the determination of the effects of admixtures on the properties of concrete.
