The aim of the course:
The course aims providing knowledge to students about the theory of critical equilibrium and applying the knowledge to different soil mechanics? problems.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : have knowledge about The theory of critical equilibrium
PO - 2 : Can solve some soil mechanics problem with the theory of critical equilibrium.
PO - 3 : have knowledge about numerical and analytical solution of partial differential equations.

Contents of the Course
Critical Equilibrium of a Soil Medium: Conditions of critical state and equations of equilibrium. Plane critical equilibrium of soil medium. Equations of critical equilibrium without body forces. Equations of critical equilibrium with body forces. Numerical integration of equations. Stability of foundations and of slopes: Stress state of foundations, Minimal pressure and stability of foundations, Maximal pressure and stability of foundations, Stability of foundations under inclined loading, Stability of slopes.
