The aim of the course:
The course is intended to provide students with a detailed understanding to select useful mineral processing methods by using and interpreting microscopic, chemical and instrumental analysis techniques.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : understand the basic principles of the processes and equipment used in ore characterization5,9
LO - 2 : discuss the importance of process mineralogy for mineral processing and hydrometallurgy5,9
LO - 3 : familiar with the principles of optical microscopy, x-ray diffraction, x-ray fluorescence, electron microscopy, DTA and TGA5,9
LO - 4 : discuss the use of these analyze techniques useful for their investigations5,9

Contents of the Course
Importance of process mineralogy for mineral processing and hydrometallurgical processes, techniques used in process mineralogy, important mineralogical aspects for mineral processing and leaching. Mineralogical analysis by x-ray diffraction, quantitative XRD methods, use of XRF for chemical analysis. Electron microscopy; scanned and transmitted beams. Identification of minerals.
