The aim of the course:
The primary goal of this course is for students to apply their understanding of American culture to current and recent works of American poetry, short fiction, novel, music and film. Students will practice taking a socio-political lens to works of artistic expression from various contemporary authors.
 
Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : gain a familiarity with various works of short fiction, novel and film.
LO - 2 : develop a general understanding of American fiction's use of structure, plot and metaphor.
LO - 3 : utilize in depth critical thinking to apply conclusions of text analysis to their broader understanding of American culture.
LO - 4 : practice constructing their own creative critique of American culture.
