A brief introduction to fundamental concepts and topics is provided to establish testing and assessment literacy among participants. Within the scope of the course, fundamental concepts related to testing and assessment will be examined in detail, fostering awareness of testing and assessment concepts among students.
Various testing techniques and procedures will be addressed in the course, encompassing both traditional and alternative assessment forms. Students will engage in the process of designing their own assessment tools and gain experience in assessment principles and methodologies. Additionally, the course will provide opportunities for familiarity with research methodologies related to language testing and assessment. Through small-scale research projects, students will apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios and develop analytical and critical thinking skills. By the end of the course, participants will enhance their awareness of language assessment principles, acquire practical experience in assessment design, and gain familiarity with research conducted on measurement and evaluation. |

The content of this course encompasses basic concepts and principles of classroom-based assessment and evaluation; different test and exam formats, as well as various question types; development and evaluation of different measurement methods (e.g., portfolios, self-assessment, learner journals); assessment and evaluation in different age groups; discrete and integrative techniques for preparing exams to test reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary, and grammar; stages of test construction, item analysis, and interpretation of test scores; and topics related to language exams prepared by teachers and feedback. |
