The aim of the course:
To give students necessary and sufficient information about literature and its terms. Provide students with the background information which is necessary for analyzing and criticizing any given literary work. To teach the highlights of English literary history.

Contents of the Course
Introducing the major genres of literature, as well as teaching the most frequently used terminology and figures of speech by making specific references to the literary movements and works.

 Week 6Drama and the major genres: Comedy and Tragedy.

 Week 10Structure and related terminology: act, scene, episode, character, etc.
 Week 11The Novel, introduction.
 Week 12Major sub-genres of novel with definitions.
