The aim of the course:
It is aimed to point out the principles in designing highway project and going through with case studies.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : interpret the socio-economic and environmental effects of transportation systems.3,5,8

Contents of the Course
Rise and development of transportation. Transportation systems. Definitions of highway equipments. General properties of highway traffic and sight distances. Capacity of roads. Road geometrical standards. Profile and vertical curves. Horizontal curves and transition curves. Profile calculations; volume calculations. Mass haul diagrams and balancing.
