The aim of the course:
To provide the student with a clear presentation of the basic concepts and principles of biology.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : understand and describe the fundamental principles of Mendelian genetics2,31,
LO - 2 : understand and describe the fundamental principles of Mendelian genetics.2,31,
LO - 3 : understand and describe the molecular basis for heredity, DNA structure and replication, and protein synthesis.2,31,
LO - 4 : understand and describe the interaction between environment and living organism and diversity of living organism.2,31,

Contents of the Course
Concepts and methods in biology. Principles of cellular life. Chemical foundation, structure, function and energy of cells. Principles of inheritance: Cell division, chromosomes, human genetics, DNA, control over genes, recombinant DNA and genetic engineering. Evolution and diversity. The origin and evolution of life, organismal groups and their general functions.
