The aim of the course:
Methods for preparing solutions as well as having bacground on the methods and equipments employed in the qualitative and queantitative determination of biomolecules are the main goals of the course
 
Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : to have background how to prepare solutions and concentration units8
LO - 2 : to have basic knowledge concerning qualitative and quantitative analyses of biomolecules8
LO - 3 : to have an ability in terms of using basic instruments available in biochemistry labarotory8
LO - 4 : to be able to evaluate qualitative and quantitative analyses data.8

Contents of the Course
General rules, introducing materials and chemicals being used in biochemistry laboratory, Preparing solutions and concentration units (%, molarity, normality, pp), Acids,-bases and buffers, Titration:, Acid-base titration, Amino acid titration, , Thin Layer Chromatography, Spectrophotometry and calibration graphics, Quantitative protein determination and Bradford method, Amino acid precipitation reactions and preciptation of proteins, Qualitative carbohydrate determination, Saponification reactions and Soap production, Protein purification techniques, Ion exchange column chromatoğrapy, Isolation of soluble proteins, Structures and classification of enzymes, Enzyme activity tests, , estimation of enzyme units, calculation of free fatty acids.
