The aim of the course:
The aim of this course is to teach COLREG and STCW 78/95 Chapter VIII Watchkeeping regulation.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : summarise and describe contents of the lecture of watchkeeping standarts II.2,3,5,6,8,121
LO - 2 : evaluate any condition of watchkeeping standarts on bridge at sea and on board in port and to present workouts.2,3,5,6,8,121
LO - 3 : identify and decide the lights and any signals of a ship in any situation on sea when the ship navigates.2,3,5,6,8,121

Contents of the Course
Responsibility of the officer in charge of a navigational watch with regard to avoiding collision and stranding. Principles of watch keeping, use and control of navigational equipment, STCW78 Chapter VIII Watchkeeping Rules, handing over and taking over watch, navigation with pilot, coastal navigation, look-out, use of radar, navigation in poor visibility, calling the master, organizing watchkeeping personnel, keeping watch while at anchor, keeping watch in port, safety of life, ship and cargo in port, port regulations, handing over watch in port, bad weather in the port. Review of COLREG/72 rules, prevention of pollution and MARPOL 73/78.
